Learn to Skate

Description:

The CBBCA Skating Lessons with Coach Phil program is intended to teach kids the basic and intermediate skating skills that are required for hockey, figure skating or just recreational skating.  Coach Phil provides the  lessons every week, usually Monday at 6 pm, once the rink opens. Each child requires their own skates and a CSA approved hockey or skating helmet. This program is free in 2023! You can register for  Skating Lessons farther down on this page.

Note that all Parents all must complete head injury awareness education annually; if you have not completed Rowan’s Law registration and CBBCA code of conduct and Concussion Protocol and completed the acknowledgements in the last 12 months please select the “CBBCA Programs & Rowans Law” registration  on the left menu.

IN CONSIDERATION of allowing my minor child/ward to participate in the CBBCA Learn to Skate program, I assure you that:

I am the parent/guardian of the above named participant having full legal responsibility for decisions for the above named participant.

I believe that my child/ward is physically, emotionally and mentally able to participate in the Learn to Skate program.

I hereby acknowledge that I am aware of the risks and hazards associated with learning to skate in a group environment. The risks and hazards include, but are not limited to injuries from:

• Executing strenuous and demanding physical activity;
• Falls due to uneven or irregular surfaces;
• Collisions with boards, goals or other equipment;
• Failure to properly use or to use defective or improperly fitted equipment.
• Weather conditions;
• Contact, colliding or being struck by other participants, pucks, sticks, spectators, equipment or vehicles;

I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE, on behalf of myself, my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin that my signing of this document constitutes:

• I agree to accept all these risks and hazards and be responsible for any injury or other loss which my minor child/ward might receive while participating in this program.
• I understand the conditions and risks and this waiver releases and forever discharges  the City of Ottawa, the Constance and Buckham’s Bay Community Association, their Executive and their members from any and all claims for personal injuries and property damage of any nature whatsoever, arising by reason of my child’s participation in this program regardless of where that activity takes place.

I ACKNOWLEDGE MAKING THIS AGREEMENT

By completing this registration, you agree that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child being registered and to be bound by this Legal Agreement even if you have not read the agreement.
