Ontario MTCS Awards CBBCA $41,000 Programs Grant
The CBBCA is delighted to announce that Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport through it’s Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund is contributing $41,000 to jump start a new adult, daytime, program concept in Constance Bay. Earlier this year the CBBCA approached MTCS with a proposal to tackle the challenges of launching programs to our “at home” population; the high cost of one-off programs, limited choices and, slow uptake. Today, our Program Leaders invest up to 3 hours of their time to deliver a single program that can take many months to grow to a viable size. The CBBCA’s proposal was to reverse this paradigm by launching many programs and give people the opportunity to try a variety. By moving to a high volume model we can signficantly reduce the cost per participant and give people more options in what they do and, when and how often they participate. On September 14 we launch “All-In”.
The recruiting of program leaders and Personal Trainers is in full swing. We are also happy to announce that our long time partner, the City of Ottawa PRCS Recreation Branch will be providing logistical support and of some of All-In’s program leaders.
On September 14, when the doors open on Constance Bay’s newly expanded community centre, daytime residents will have some dramatically new opportunities. More than just a new, bright, and relaxing environment the new centre will offer a $35/month, daytime, all-inclusive package. All-In members will be able to drop-in to any of the 24 active living programs that will launch when we open. From aerobics to Zumba there is only one theme; variety. All-In will run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week with 7 to 10 programs running each day. Our final program menu will be finalized in August when we complete our program leader recruiting.
For those so inclined, day-time access to the new Fitness Centre is also included. The second floor Centre offers beautiful views over the forest, an array of modern machines, exercise equipment, a balcony to cool off on and, if you get tired of the view, TV monitors.
Combined with new leisure areas to chat, relax, or play a game of cards, the new Library, café areas, and the Fitness Centre, All-In gives day time residents exceptional variety and value. With 24 programs packed into three days members don’t even need a plan; just drop in and do what moves you. To celebrate our launch, members will enjoy the first month free.
The health of all of our members comes first so All-In also includes a complementary consultation and orientation with one of our certified Personal Trainers. They will guide you through the Program options and can make recommendations to avoid aggravating an old injury, strengthen a weak spot, or gain flexibility in your stiff parts. They’ll show you the features of our spectacular fitness centre so you are comfortable, safe, and get everything you can out of it. And, if you have a particular goal, they’ll show you how to track your progress and help you get there. Our Trainers are your new best friend in health. In the coming months, with the renovation and repurposing of the existing facility and the tenanting of our out-reach office, we’ll be opening open more recreation options and services for all residents. We are currently seeking proposals to bring important features like foot care and massage therapy close to home.
All-In is part of the Sandhills vision and thanks to MTCS the vision starts now. See you at the centre.
