Mennonites Continue to help
On September 8th Mennonite Disaster Services returned for their fourth engagement helping residents of Constance Bay and West Carleton. Over their four week stay the MDS crews carried out another 145 person days of work. To date the Mennonites have given over 1,778 hours of help to our communities. With MDS providing the labor, food, equipment & transportation and CBBCA Flood Relief providing the materials and shelter most of the remaining homes that were damaged in the historic Spring flood are now repaired. For these families, and the dozens helped earlier, the after effects of the flood would have lingered a very long time without the aid of MDS and the CBBCA. We cannot say enough about the contributions these wonderful people are making to our community.
The collaboration with MDS continues as we work to rebuild the two homes which are needed most urgently. Critical activities are now well underway for a planned construction start in December.
