7) A FEW THINGS: Ski Club, Calendars
The weather has set back track-setting on the ski trails but the volunteers will be back out there again very soon. The trails and equipment are maintained by the CBBCA without any government subsidy; we rely on club memberships and volunteers to help off-set the costs. You can buy your club membership; Just click “buy-on-line” at the top of this page.
A few copies of the 2014 community photo calendar are still available; $10. Our sixth edition is filled with spectacular local scenery and a couple of interesting collages. Call 832-1225 or email
8) SANDHILLS UPDATE:
The project hit important milestones in December and January. December saw another $31,000 contributed to Sandhills from donations, 60 membership renewals, and 17 five-year memberships.” The $31,000 turns into $62,000 in committed funds once matched by the City of Ottawa. This pushed the project to $1,112,000 in committed funds and cash transferred to the City reached $150,000. The design and engineering has been awarded and we expect board members and community program and service advocates to work with the architects throughout February. The outcome will be the end state design of the new Leisure Centre; renovating the assets we have with what we are building to create one new facility. The vision will be presented to the community in March with the final construction tender ready in May. A more detailed status, and our plan to have construction start this summer, will be presented at the CBBCA’s AGM on Sunday February 2nd. Remember; every dollar raised is matched by the city, donations receive a tax receipt that can get you a rebate of nearly 50%, and your money is held in trust until construction starts – its a money back guarantee. If you haven’t made your mark please do it soon.
