Carp Ridge Learning supporting area youth
The CBBCA and Carp Ridge Learning – Carp Ridge Ecowellness have entered into an agreement to significantly expand programming for grade 7 & 8s at the Northwind Wireless Fibe Centre in Constance Bay. The grant from CRLC will enable the CBBCA to launch its successful Youth Lounge to the grade 7 & 8 demographic. The Lounge is a dedicated, 800 ft2, recreation space at Northwind that features four big screens, game consoles, Netflix, pool & foozball tables, couches, and other amenities. The agreement will fund dedicated facilitators & supervision, to ensure a safe & healthy environment, on a new grade 7 & 8 Lounge night and subsidize food & beverage costs. The agreement will also launch a new fun & healthy foods program for grade’s 7 & 8 that will coincide with the launch of Northwind’s Millenium Kitchen.
The Carp Ridge Learning Centre (CRLC) is a charity whose mission is to support local community health and sustainability. It has hosted many events and programs since its inception in 1999: the first Forest School in North America, field trips for local school children, company retreats, the Carp dinner-talk series, a local healing circle series, child and youth camps and a significant community garden and dinner program at the Constance Bay Legion.
The CRLC sponsors programs for children, youth and families. CRLC partners with local community groups to meet mutual goals.
