A record week-end nets $47,000 for Sandhills
The week-end of November 2nd and 3rd, 2013 raised $47,000 for project Sandhills through three successful events and 3 great event teams. The money is matched by the City bringing the total to $94,000.
The Sandhills Soiree was first in on November 2nd, raising $1,900 for the project with a fun evening of wine, fashion, beauty, and crafts. Thank you to everyone who came out, all the Vendors, those who donated door prizes & silent auction items, the Graystone Grill, Shannon Spallin, Cindy Raley, Jan Rulliere, Kathy Partridge, models- Donna Edwards, Nathalie Thorpe, Colleen Stonehouse, Marlene DeVeth, Kelly Tucker, Tracey Bloom and Jo-Anne Graham, As well as Sarah Nagy & Kaitlyn Barr for doing spectacular hair on stage, Barb O’Dell & Ric for being MC, Penny for running the bar and fabulous Verna for all of her hard work.
On Saturday Eli submitted to a roast of comic proportions; lead by the CBBCA and Presented by Thomas Cavanagh Construction the event was sponsored by over a dozen of the city’s major corporations. Held at NeXT in Stittsville it featured humorous reflections by the City Manager, Kent Kirkpatrick, Mayor Jim Watson, Minister Bob Chiarelli, MPP Lisa MacLeod, and MC Senator Vern White. The CBBCA would like to thank our volunteer sales and marketing leader, Denise Damecour, Thomas Cavanagh Construction, our Sponsors, the many silent auction donors, especially The Hive in Carp, the incomparable staff at NeXT, and our MC and Panel for their support. The event raised $44,000 for Sandhills.
On Sunday the Monster Book Sale… and it was a monster, raised nearly $1,100 for the project. Lead by Ruth McKlusky, Sarah Simkin, and Cindy Pratt with the support of at least a dozen other volunteers and countless donors they filled the multi-purpose room with books and found new owners for hundreds.
